UK’s iconic Sycamore Gap tree cut down by ‘vandals’

It was a beautiful tree that starred in many people’s lives and even a blockbuster movie. But this morning the ancient sycamore which graced the skyline in Northumberland’s National Park next to Hadrian’s Wall had been cut down. Why?

As for the who, this afternoon Northumbria Police said they had arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with the felling of the tree.
