The growing divide between Israel and Washington has been laid bare by the US allowing the United Nations Security Council to vote for a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
America’s decision to abstain brought an instant response, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cancelling a visit of his top advisers to Washington.
There are reports of resignations within the Israeli government.
