The the official death toll in UK hospitals reached 1,228 today – a rise of 209. But it was a smaller increase than the one we saw yesterday.

The NHS also announced the first confirmed death of a frontline health worker who had tested positive for the coronavirus – a 55-year-old doctor working in the Midlands.
