US election latest: Trump stands by debunked eating pets claim while Harris’ interview gets combative

After a weekend in which Donald Trump talked about sending the military to deal with the “enemy within” after the presidential election, Kamala Harris herself ventured into enemy territory – giving an interview to Fox News.

She’d earlier been joined by more than a hundred Republicans who plan to vote for her – alarmed by Mr Trump’s authoritarian tendencies.

He used a TV encounter of his own to describe the deadly January 6th riot as a “day of love”.
