US navy collects debris after shooting down Chinese ‘spy’ balloon

The United States has insisted  that the high altitude Chinese balloon which it shot down last night over the Atlantic was being used for surveillance.

President Biden described the mission as a success while the US Navy and Coast guards are now searching the area for debris.

China has lodged a formal protest,   accusing the United States of “seriously violating international practice”.
