In Molalla, a so-called ‘Hillbilly Brigade’ have taken it upon themselves to save their town from the flames by building fire lines and extinguishing fires. They have saved the town, says the local fire marshal

Further south in the city of Talent, now reduced to ash, 600 homes have been destroyed, and two people have been killed.

President Trump blames poor forest management in the largely Democrat-controlled states, but his political opponent Joe Biden says the climate crisis is fanning the flames of this disaster.

For those on the ground, it is a battle to simply survive.
