Vjosa River to become national park in bid to save Europe’s last wild river

Albania’s prime minister announced today that the country’s wild river system, the Vjosa, is to become a national park.

As this programme reported exclusively last year, what’s often called Europe’s last free flowing river system had been threatened by a host of dam projects.
