Warning energy bills could rise by up to 50% next spring

Household energy bills could rise as much as 50% in the spring, the industry has warned.

Suppliers have warned that surging wholesale gas and electricity prices could generate a “national crisis”.

Energy UK has appealed to the Treasury to step in and help reduce the cost to consumers.
