‘We are living with the shadow of pre-existing centuries old infrastructure from which we have yet to recover’ – author Isabel Wilkerson

Author and journalist Isabel Wilkerson, who became the first African-American woman to win the Pulitzer prize in 1994, has written extensively about the experiences of racism and what she describes as the “silent war-game” of US society.

Her latest book contends that all Americans are born into a hierarchy of power and privilege which is comparable to the caste system of India or the anti-Semitic laws of the Nazis.
