‘We’re down to the marrow in the health service – we’re beyond the bone’: Almost half of UK doctors say their mental health worse now than during pandemic

Almost half of all doctors in the UK say their mental health is now even worse than during the pandemic – as they struggle with overwork, scarce resources and rising demand from patients.

According to the Medical Protection Society, some doctors feel they are ‘lurching from crisis to crisis’ with little respite.

NHS England says it has pledged £2.3 million to improve staff wellbeing across seven regions.

But for exhausted medics, the toll on their psychological health is becoming one burden too many.
