Wham!’s Last Christmas finally makes it to number one in festive charts

When they first tried to storm the festive charts they were kept off the top spot by Band Aid.

But almost 40 years later, Wham’s Last Christmas has finally made it to number one – fending off serious competition from the likes of Sam Ryder and the Pogues.

Andrew Ridgley said his late band-mate George Michael would be “beside himself”.
