White Helmets left to fight Covid in war-ravaged Syria

If Covid fears have ramped up again in this country, in some parts of the world the older variants are still wreaking havoc.

In the rebel held area of north west Syria, a decade of fighting  has crippled the healthcare system.

Now the Syria Civil Defence, or the White Helmets as they’re known, have gone from rescuers to ambulance drivers and undertakers.

This brings a new challenge and a new stigma as our health editor Victoria Macdonald reports.
