The race to buy Manchester United is heating up after at least two bidders registered their interest ahead of a soft deadline.

One of them is Sir Jim Ratcliffe, one of Britain’s richest men, and a boyhood United fan. But a Qatari consortium has also thrown its hat into the ring.
