Why are there so few South Asian players at the top levels of English football?

For decades, it’s been asked why there are so few South Asian players at the top of English football.

There are only 22 professional players with South Asian heritage playing in England’s top four leagues this season.

That’s a tiny figure when you consider British Asians, whose parents and grandparents came from places such as India and Pakistan, can be counted in millions.
