Emmanuel Macron has led tributes to Gisele Pelicot’s dignity and courage, as he called her an inspiration to the world.
Ms Pelicot’s lawyers said she felt a “sense of relief” after her husband and 50 co-defendants were found guilty in the mass rape trial which has sent shock waves through France and across the globe.
Her bravery has undoubtedly transformed the conversation around sexual violence and the treatment of survivors.
But will it lead to any real, substantial change?
