DWP: winter fuel cuts could push 100,000 pensioners into poverty

It was one of the Labour government’s first policy announcements, and provoked fierce criticism from many of its own backbenchers as well as charities.

Now it’s been revealed that the decision to restrict Winter Fuel Payments is expected to push 100,000 pensioners into poverty – according to analysis produced by the Department for Work and pensions itself.
