Women ‘systematically objectified’ by Hollywood says filmmaker Nina Menkes

The #MeToo movement exposed the rampant sexism behind and in front of the camera but a new documentary has set out to expose just how endemic the objectification of women has been throughout the history of cinema.

In ‘Brainwashed: Sex Camera Power’, the American filmmaker Nina Menkes challenges that constant sexualisation of women’s bodies on screen and its impact on the real world.

We sat down with Nina Menkes and asked her if a particular event had inspired her to make the film.
