Zelenskyy calls for Putin to face justice in speech in Hague

International Editor

The sound of gunfire is resounding over Kyiv tonight as troops try to shoot down Russian armoured drones attacking the city.

Earlier in the day, Volodymyr Zelenskyy made an unexpected appearance at the International Criminal Court in the Hague.

The Ukrainian president said that his Russian counterpart “deserves to be sentenced” and called for a war tribunal to hold Russia to account for alleged war crimes.

Yesterday the Kremlin accused Ukraine of attempting to assassinate Mr Putin with a drone attack, which Kyiv has denied.

Today they added that America had orchestrated the drone strike.
