Zelenskyy: ‘Through diplomacy’ Ukraine must end war with Russia next year

Ukraine must do everything possible to end the war with Russia next year, through diplomacy, President Zelensky has declared.

But he said the Russian leader Vladimir Putin is not at all interested in peace – and merely wants to end his political isolation by talking to Western leaders. So he hit out at Germany’s Chancellor Olaf Scholz for doing just that – when he spoke to Mr Putin by phone yesterday, for the first time in almost two years.
