Listings

The new listings section has a cleaner, clearer design in keeping with Channel4.com. Day-to-day and week-to-week navigation has been much improved, and a simple drop-down menu means that the family of C4 channels are instantly accessible.

A highlights section outlines the picks of the week, while these selections are also flagged up within each day's listings. And for film writers, listings can also be refined to show only movies. Additionally there is now an option to download a week's listings in an Excel spreadsheet format.

Pictures

The picture section of the new site is easily navigable and much more user friendly, with all the latest images available on one page.

Like the old website, there is a search facility.  Unlike the old site, this one actually works, so if you're after pictures for Dispatches, it doesn't give you a press release for The Hoobs.  Searches can be refined to return just images, which are searchable by programme, character, actor, or presenter.

The user can download up to 40 images in one go, and can also enlarge images and download them straightaway.

Registering for the site

The majority of the site is open to be viewed by anyone.  However, the Listings and Images sections of the site will be password-protected (we told you that you were special).  If you need access to these sections, please click on the ‘Register' link at the top right of this page.

You will then be asked for a few details, which will see you signed up to Channel4.com.  You'll then go to a page which will ask for your press credentials.  When you have entered these, we will process your application as quickly as possible and notify you by email when we have done so.  (Please note that the first email you receive will be from Channel4.com, not from the press website).  If you have any problems or queries, please call the press office front desk on 020 7306 8444.

Please be aware that the old, grey, steam-powered site will be turned off at some point in the next few weeks, so you'd better register for this brave new world sooner rather than later!

One last thing

Forgive us one more moment of shameless self-promotion, but like all proud parents, we think our new baby is awfully good. It's not every day a new dream becomes a reality, particularly one that is a marriage of genius, beauty, and a little bit of witchcraft. So have a good peep around, we really hope you like what you see.  We can promise it's the dog's Hollyoaks. We swear.

Welcome to the new and (considerably) improved Channel 4 Press Centre.

We are launching the site early to Listings and Pictures contacts because yours are the areas with the most specific needs, and because you depend on the site more than any other users in your day-to-day jobs.  And also just because we think you're special. You'll need to register to access the images and listings sections - see details below.

The new site will continue to provide access to comprehensive, up-to-date programme listings information, and beautiful, arresting images relating to Channel 4 programmes, just as the old site did.  However, this site will feature considerably less of the colour grey.

But it's not just a different colour, revolutionary as that may be.  It should also make your jobs that little bit easier, thanks to some new technical improvements.
