All 4 Originals: February Highlights

Category: News Release

This February on All 4, we celebrate the female wrestlers smashing through the glass ceiling in the WWE and discover the real life passions of the stars of the The Undateables.

Plus, to coincide with Channel 4’s Fake News Week, a topical week-long season examining the headline-grabbing post-truth world, All 4 will have extended stories from Britain’s Greatest Hoaxer – comedian and notorious stage-stormer Simon Brodkin; we’ll be finding out the truth behind some famous paparazzi pictures; and, twenty years since it was first broadcast, we’ll be revisiting the box set of the original fake news comedy, Brass Eye.

Smashing Glass Ceilings: The Women of WWE (Available now)

After years of languishing at the bottom of the bill, 2016 saw the women’s revolution take hold of professional wrestling, catapulting the female superstars off the top rope and into the main event limelight. But how did this come about?

Granted exclusive access to the WWE, filmmaker and life-long wrestling fan James Delow goes on the road with two of the biggest stars in the world today – Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks – as they prepare the first ever women’s match to be held inside the 20ft ‘Hell In A Cell’ structure.

The arch-rivals reflect on the realities of living life on the road and demonstrate the physical toughness required to become a megastar in a scripted world full of real danger. We also hear from Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, Becky Lynch, Nikki Bella, Natalya Neidhart, Mick Foley and Daniel Bryan to understand how these women have spearheaded a new division that’s encouraged a whole new fan base to sit up and take notice.

Search Party

(Available now)

The critically-acclaimed mystery comedy series that’s garnering rave reviews is still available to view as an All 4 box set.

Search Party centres on Dory, a fragile, frustrated, life-long doormat who’s not particularly proud of her impact on the world, especially as her greatest accomplishment to date is organising clothes to be donated to charity for her wealthy employer. Dory feels stuck in a stale and disconnected relationship with her boyfriend Drew, a kind of clueless, complacent, spoon-fed doofus who just really loves Christmas. She also feels removed from her closest friends, Elliott, a self-diagnosed narcissist who loves adding job titles to his designer-stylist-curator multi-hyphenate lifestyle, and Portia, an actress always struggling to balance the challenging demands of chronic insecurity and pathological self-absorption.

Led by Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development) as Dory, Search Party features an ensemble of young comic actors including John Early as Elliott, John Reynolds as Drew, Meredith Hagner as Portia and Brandon Michael Hall as Dory’s journalist ex-boyfriend, Julian.

i Search Party on All 4 should definitely be your next binge-watch. It’s difficult to imagine we’ll see a more purely entertaining show this year.”

Confessions of the Paparazzi

(6 February)

Britain’s ever increasing obsession with celebrity has created a twilight world where nothing is quite as it seems. With huge rewards for the right photo, celebrities and the paparazzi indulge in a bizarre game of hide-and-seek where the lines between fact and fiction are often blurred. Agreeing to reveal some of the dark arts of this world is one of the paparazzi’s most controversial figures, George Bamby, and his young apprentice Bilko.

To accompany the Channel 4 documentary, All 4 will have six outrageous and snackable stories in which George shares his shocking, seedy and often hilarious run-ins with Tom Hardy, Mary Berry and even Princes William and Harry.

Britain’s Greatest Hoaxer

(7 February)

Comedian and infamous hoaxer Simon Brodkin made headlines around the world showering Sepp Blatter in banknotes and storming Kanye West’s stage at Glastonbury. In 2016, Channel 4 gained exclusive access to the comic as he set his sights on breaking the news once again, turning his target to three of the world’s most notorious figures: Simon Cowell, Sir Philip Green and the 45th President of the United States of America, Donald J. Trump.

Supporting the Channel 4 show, All 4 will offer the full story behind these stunts, as Simon reveals the extraordinary lengths he goes to burst the bubble of some of the world’s richest and most famous people.

Brass Eye: Box Set

(Available now)

To mark Fake News Week, All 4 invites you to rediscover the anarchic news satire, first broadcast on Channel 4 in 1997, which saw investigative reporter Chris Morris put Britain under the spotlight and smacked the issues of the day until they bled.

Twenty years on, fake news never looked so real.
