All Hotel GB trainees offered jobs in tonight's live final
Category: News ReleaseThe 14 trainees who have worked on Hotel GB have all been offered jobs as a result of their experiences on the series this week.
In Channel 4's Hotel GB Gordon Ramsay and Mary Portas took over a hotel staffing it with unemployed people and raising money for the Prince's Trust and Springboard charities.
All week employers from top UK firms across the hotel and leisure industry have visited the hotel undercover, posing as customers to test the trainees' skills and see who impressed the most.
Across the week representatives from: Angelus Restaurant & Lounge, Bespoke Hotels, Criterion Restaurant, Destination Skin, Flemings Hotel, GLL (Greenwich Leisure Limited), Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Spotless Hotel Cleaning, Theme Traders, Thistle Hotels and Virgin Active Health Clubs visited the hotel to see which trainees were up to scratch.
By the end of the week, all of the trainees managed to make an impression and were able to secure at last one job offer - with some of them able to choose from more than one job offer. As promised from the outset, Gordon Ramsay and Mary Portas have also offered jobs to one person from each of their teams who particularly impressed them.
Gordon picked 30-year-old Gun from Birmingham, who spent the last 12 years living and working on cruise ships as a dancer and a hostess. She returned home to the UK three months ago but was unable to find a job. Gun has been offered a role in Gordon Ramsay Holdings.
Gordon said: "I'm delighted to offer Gun a role within Gordon Ramsay Holdings. She is inspirational and has shown an amazing level of composure and leadership in a pressurised and busy environment. It's been an intense week at Hotel GB but I'm so pleased to see how all the trainees have developed not just in skill but confidence and I wish them all the best for the future."
Mary Portas decided to offer a job to 26-year-old Emily from Huyton. Emily struggled to find flexible employment since the birth of her son two years ago. She previously worked as an entertainment rep in hotels across Turkey, Cyprus and Spain.
Mary said: "Emily has been given a once in a lifetime opportunity in the world of fashion to master the basics of buying, selling, styling and service before taking up a position on the floor of one of my flagship stores."
The Hotel GB tills were still ringing as the live show was on air tonight (Friday) with tips and takings still being added up.
