Category: News ReleaseWarner Bros. Television Group’s Brand-New Batwoman, Adult Animated Series Harley Quinn and new Supernatural All Coming to UK Screens Exclusively on E4
Following its successful premiere in the U.S., E4 has announced it will be bringing the new female caped crusader to UK screens after acquiring the much-anticipated WBTV series, Batwoman. Starring Ruby Rose (Orange is the New Black) as the DC Super Hero, the series will be coming to E4 in 2020 in a deal with Warner Bros. Television Group.
Ruby Rose stars as Kate Kane, the first openly gay female lead of a live-action Super Hero show. Three years after Batman mysteriously disappeared, Gotham is in despair, overrun by criminal gangs. Kate returns home when the Alice in Wonderland gang target her father Jacob (Dougray Scott – Mission: Impossible 2) and his security firm. In order to help her family and her city, she’ll have to become the one thing her father loathes – a dark knight vigilante. With the help of her stepsister Mary (Nicole Kang – You, The Code, Swallow) and crafty Luke Fox (Camrus Johnson – The Sun is Also a Star, Luke Cage), Kate continues the legacy of her missing cousin Bruce Wayne, while combatting the dark machinations of the psychotic Alice (Rachel Skarsten – Reign, Birds of Prey, Imposters). Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, she soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence.
Based on the characters from DC, the series, from Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, also stars Meagan Tandy (Survivor’s Remorse, Teen Wolf) as Officer Sophie Moore and Elizabeth Anweis (9-1-1, The Affair) as Catherine Hamilton-Kane. Distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. International Television Distribution, Batwoman is executive produced by Greg Berlanti (Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl), Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries, Smallville), Geoff Johns (Titans, Wonder Woman) and Sarah Schechter (Blindspot, Riverdale).
Also fighting her way onto E4 is the Mistress of Mayhem herself, Harley Quinn, in a brand new animated comedy series from Warner Bros. Animation that pulls zero punches. With awesome battles and crazy fights, wisecracking Harley, voiced by Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory, 8 Simple Rules) is out of control and on a mission to make it as the criminal Queenpin of Gotham City, after having finally broken things off once and for all with the Joker. Harley is aided by Poison Ivy (Lake Bell – BoJack Horseman, Wet Hot American Summer) and a ragtag crew of DC castoffs, as she tries to earn a seat at the biggest table in villainy: the Legion of Doom!
Developed by Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker (Powerless, $#*! My Dad Says) and Dean Lorey (Powerless, Arrested Development), the series features an ensemble cast of recurring stars including Jason Alexander (Seinfeld, The Orville), Diedrich Bader (Veep), Lake Bell (Childrens Hospital), Andy Daly (Review, Adventure Time, Modern Family), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Ron Funches (Powerless), Tony Hale (Veep), Rahul Kohli (iZOMBIE), Christopher Meloni (Man of Steel), Will Sasso (MADtv, Mom), JB Smoove (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Wanda Sykes (Black-ish), Alan Tudyk (Doom Patrol) and more! Produced by Ehsugadee Productions and Yes, Normal Productions in association with Warner Bros. Animation, Harley Quinn is executive produced by Sam Register, Cuoco, Halpern, Schumaker and Lorey. Distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. International Television Distribution, the new series premiered this fall in the U.S. on DC UNIVERSE.
The much-anticipated series 14 of Supernatural is also coming to UK screens exclusively on E4 in 2020. It will be followed by series 15 at a later date.
The harrowing journey of the Winchester brothers continues as Supernatural enters its historic 14th season. Sam (series star Jared Padalecki) and Dean (series star Jenson Ackles) have matched wits with monsters, demons, Heaven and Hell. But in the show's previous season, the Winchesters were thrown into a terrifying alternative universe – an apocalyptic world where they were never born, all while training Jack (series regular Alexander Calvert), the son of Lucifer, and trying to save their mother, Mary Winchester (recurring guest star Samantha Smith). The final battle with Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) and the Archangel Michael could alter the Winchesters' lives forever…and create an even greater threat for Sam and Dean.
Karl Warner, Controller of E4 said: “At its best, E4 stands for brilliant action-packed entertainment, so kick starting the year is a groundbreaking new series of Batwoman followed by Harley Quinn, another brilliantly funny animation series that will build on the big success we’ve had with Rick and Morty.”
