Bowled Over Media to make second ‘Narrow Escape’ on Channel 4
Category: News ReleaseBrighton-based Bowled Over Media has been recommissioned with GroupM Motion Entertainment to make a second series of Narrow Escapes for Channel 4 Daytime.
The increased episode order of 25x60’ is set to follow more people who have swapped their homes of bricks and mortar for new lives on the water and now call the UK’s canal network home.
In series two we’ll catch up the lives of some of our favourites from series one, including single-boater Emma, new parents Jack and Gabby, mum and daughter duo Carrie and Della and the Gould family who live on board Holly The Café boat, as well as meeting a variety of new faces who also live or work on the waterways.
Narrow Escapes’ recommission comes after a successful first series which received an 8% viewing share at 4pm across the series and was one of Daytime’s top performers on Channel 4 Streaming. Series one of Narrow Escapes was funded by Channel 4 and GroupM Motion Entertainment’s Diverse Indies Fund. The Diverse Indies Fund was set up to support small and medium-sized ethnically diverse-owned independent production companies to produce new projects.
Jayne Stanger, commissioning editor for Channel 4, comments: “Narrow Escapes brought so much joy to Channel 4 Daytime and Streaming earlier this year, so I’m thrilled we’re bringing it back for a second, longer run and continuing to work with Heidi and the wonderful team at Bowled Over Media.”
Heidi Gomes, Creative Director, Bowled Over Media, said: “The whole team are so thrilled to be returning to the British waterways with more teatime fun featuring a fantastic cast of all ages, gorgeous scenery and canal and river-based stories. We are very grateful to Channel 4 for the opportunity and for their championing of our small diverse indie, and we can’t wait to get started!”
Deep Sehgal, Head of Creative Diversity (UK), GroupM Motion Entertainment, said: “Motion are absolutely delighted to see this wonderful series return and to see Bowled Over Media going from strength to strength in the process. This is precisely the kind of success story that our Diverse Indies Fund partnership with Channel 4 was designed to enable.”
This new second series is commissioned for Channel 4 by Jayne Stanger, commissioning editor, Lifestyle, with Jo Street, Head of Lifestyle. Narrow Escapes is produced by Bowled Over Media and Heidi Gomes is executive producer with Chris Hailes as series director and Sarah Adams as producer. Deep Sehgal serves as exec producer for GroupM Motion Entertainment.
