The Box Plus Network appoints Athena Witter as new Production Director

Witter is appointed new Production Director, as The Box Plus Network strengthens its original content offering. Witter arrives at the UK’s largest and most-watched music television network after holding senior positions at ITV, MTV, Sky and Endemol.

The Box Plus Network, the UK’s largest and most-watched music television network, has today announced the hire of Athena Witter, as the network’s new Production Director. Witter will take responsibility for the programming, commercial production and central production management teams.

The role will see her heading up the network’s production offering, where she will lead on the creation of original content – strengthening the network's youth entertainment content portfolio, across broadcast and digital platforms.

Witter joins The Box Plus Network after six years at ITV across various genres from Daytime through to her most recent position as the Head of Entertainment, Comedy & Drama for online & brands in ITV Digital Studios. Previous to ITV, she held senior positions at MTV, Sky and Endemol.

Witter has over 15 years’ creative production experience and has helped launch and shape some of the UK’s most notable television content and mobile products. She was responsible for many of television’s digital ‘firsts’ including The Voice digital only switch-over show, through to BSKYB’s Got To Dance, where she delivered the first mass content ‘social wall’ for live television; in addition to Big Brother’s first 24hr rolling news coverage and the BAFTA nominated Digital Hub for This Morning.

She has also led on some of the UK’s biggest Programme Entertainment apps; The X Factor (winner of the Broadcast Digital Award for Platform Innovation) and Britain’s Got Talent, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here – Europe’s biggest downloaded programme app (BAFTA nominated) and Love Island.
