Britain's Most Historic Towns - clips

In this unique take on British history, Professor Alice Roberts explores Britain’s rich and varied past through the story of individual towns.  In each programme Alice will study one key period in history by delving into the secrets of a single historic town that encapsulates the era. 

In episode three, Alice tells the story of Norman England by studying the history of Winchester, Britain’s Most Norman Town. To get to grips with the Normans, Alice attempts to storm a castle in chain mail, investigates the origins of modern surgery and tucks into an appetising eel pie.  

Cutting edge CGI brings long lost monuments back to life and, at the climax of the programme, reveals the entire historic town in all its former glory.
