Genderquake (working title)

2x60’

Although there have always been transgender people, awareness of gender-fluidity has exploded into public consciousness in recent years with an increasing number of young people feeling less tethered to the gender they were born into and the gender roles expected of them.

Genderquake will explore the gender identities being adopted by a new generation of millennials. To get to the heart of the topic eleven young Brits will live together under one roof for one week. The eleven young people come from across the spectrum of gender and sexuality and all have strong – and varied - opinions on the subject. During their stay they will get the chance to get to know each other and explore their differing views. But with such a divisive topic at the heart of their stay, will anyone’s opinions and viewpoints be swayed along the way with preconceptions changed by the end of their time together?

The Class of Mum and Dad

4x60’

Primary school education has changed dramatically in recent years and in this brand new series a class of parents are going to experience what it’s like for their kids as they go back to school in The Class Next Door. For one half term these parents will study the Year 6 curriculum alongside their own children. They will have the same regime, don the school’s uniform, complete homework, eat school dinner, participate in PE, art, music and dance lessons as well as face the same discipline if they misbehave.

With greater pressure on primary school children to perform in SATs, the new education reforms and the rise of grammar school culture, there has never been more of a need for us to find out exactly what is expected of our children, and what sort of pressures they are under today. There are many disagreements among the parents on the merits of testing and homework, how much art and music should be part of the curriculum, and many of the parents push the boundaries on the school rules and regimes.

My Family and The Galapagos

3x60’

In 1978 The Galapagos Islands were designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, signifying their unprecedented importance to the world. Forty years on, the Halls family will investigate the wonders and challenges that both define and threaten this awe-inspiring jewel of nature. As a family they will have extraordinary wildlife encounters and life-changing experiences, living alongside creatures that can be found nowhere else on earth. But at a time when the islands are at a crossroads – with the human population expanding, plastic waste infesting seas and washing up on shores, invasive species and illegal fishing threatening the islands more than ever before – they will also learn first-hand what is being done to protect The Galapagos Islands, one of the most incredible places in the world.
