C4 commissions My Single Life (w/t) for E4

Category: News Release

Girl meets boy. Boy meets girl. They fall in love and live happily ever after. Or not, as the case may be. Modern dating for twenty-something singles has never been more complicated, which is why Channel 4 has commissioned ‘My Single Life’ (w/t).

This brand new interactive 8x60’ format will follow the fortunes of singletons as they set up home together in their singles apartment and embark on a quest for ‘The One’. From blind dates arranged by their mates, to online dating apps and meeting people in a bar they will leave no avenue unexplored in their quest for love.

However their behaviour and what they’re doing wrong will be put under the microscope, but not just by their date themselves. In each episode the group will watch their dates back at the same time as the viewers, who will be at the ready to dissect every aspect of their dating endeavours as they unfold.

Across the week, the cameras will be there to capture each swipe, text, call, and date ready for the audience to unleash their views on social media; from every awkward silence to lustful lunge, their opinions will influence the love lives of the cast.

The live show will interrogate the very best and worst of the week’s dates, as the audience get to have their say on what they think our singletons should do next, who they fancy and even put themselves forward to date a cast member.

My Single Life (wt) is produced by Lime Pictures and has been commissioned by Channel 4‘s Head of Formats Dom Bird and Editor of Formats Simone Haywood.

Speaking on the commission, Head of Formats, Dom Bird, said 'We're delighted to commission My Single Life for E4. Lifting the lid on the harsh realities of modern dating, the live viewer interaction will bring a unique type of feedback to our brave contributors - and maybe even help them find true love.'

Head of Non-Scripted Programming and Executive Producer for Lime Pictures Derek McLean comments; ‘My Single Life is an ambitious new format with a brilliant live component and viewer interaction at its heart.  The whole show is fast turnaround 'as it happens tv', which allows the viewers to follow the dates in real time and share the rollercoaster journey, or indeed the car crash, of our brave contributors' quest for love.’
