C4 commissions unique studio based dating series, Naked Attraction
Category: News Release
Channel 4 has commissioned a unique studio based dating series Naked Attraction (w/t) from Studio Lambert. Hosted by Anna Richardson the series will examine whether or not we can rely on our primal instincts to find a suitable partner.
For thousands of years finding a mate was a decision based solely on raw primitive attraction and animal magnetism, but over time social and cultural shifts have eroded our ability to depend on this. Now our choices are influenced by peripheral factors such as dress sense and occupation. However, in an increasingly complicated dating world, some evolutionary psychologists and sexual scientists believe that our bodies alone may still project the best information for us to select a successful partner.
Naked Attraction (w/t) will see a single man and a single woman choose a date, each from a selection of six people, but instead of seeing them clothed for the first time, they will stand naked before them in the studio…. The show starts the way some good dates might end, but how will it actually work out when natural instinct is all you have to go on?
As the show progresses the singletons reject those with a physique that they don’t feel drawn to physically, explaining to Anna just why they’ve discounted them. We will discover that people have varied, interesting and surprising tastes in what they find attractive about a naked body. As the six potential dates are whittled down Anna will reveal further information about them that people would normally use to judge a potential partner on, such as how they dress and what they do for a living. The single man and single woman will then select their final match before heading out on a date to see if their initial instinct was accurate.
Whilst we are socially conditioned not to judge people on their looks, could reversing the dating process and judging someone purely on their naked form actually offer us the best chance of finding a suitable mate?
Naked Attraction (w/t) The series was commissioned by Channel 4 Head of Factual Entertainment Liam Humphreys with Commissioning Editor, Factual Entertainment, Tina Flintoff and Live and Events Commissioning Editor Tom Beck. Naked Attraction will be made by Studio Lambert with series editor Vivienne Molokwu and executive producers Tim Harcourt and Mike Cotton.
