C4 returns live to the EB clinic with brand new interactive technology

The show that quite literally says, “The Dr will see you NOW” will be back with Dr Christian Jessen, Dr Pixie McKenna, Dr Dawn Harper and a whole load of new and fully interactive medical advice.

Back in the purpose-built studio in Europe’s largest hospital, Birmingham’s’ Queen Elizabeth, the live advice from our EB medics will feature a brand new method of interactive guidance alongside the normal Skype and webcam sessions.

In the studio they will be taking live calls from viewers at home and focussing on both embarrassing and common conditions, covering everything from glue ear to ingrown toe nails and everything in between. The series will feature cases covered from the mobile EB Truck- some live and some filmed earlier in the day out and about in cities across the UK.

Following the phenomenal success of My HealthChecker the team have devised My MindChecker, an interactive site, that features eight mental health self-tests covering a range of conditions from ADHD, Depression, OCD and Dyslexia.

My MindChecker is optimised for both phone and mobile devices providing advice and information for those that use it whilst feeding results live into the studio. Individual findings will remain anonymous but will allow the team to examine a snapshot of the mental welfare of the nation, looking at findings by region, age, gender and occupation.

For viewers that want to take a more relaxed approach, and try their hand at playing Drs themselves, the clinic will be open after hours with new game, Embarrassing Bodies presents Angry Boils.

The free to download gaming app will be available internationally on iOS, Android and web from April 10th. Featuring the voices and avatars of the Embarrassing Bodies doctors the game puts you in control of the Embarrassing Bodies clinic as waves of patients test player’s skills to the limit. Players must marshal their resources to treat all of the different illnesses that present themselves at the clinic, from Conjunctivitis and Diarrhoea to Pubic Lice and Flatulence. The National Health Service’s’ finest will help, from Triage Nurses to Anaesthetists, but players must choose the right combination to successfully deal with each illness and ensure that no patient leaves the clinic untreated.

Embarrassing Bodies: Live From the Clinic was commissioned by Channel 4 Features Commissioning Editor Kate Teckman, and will be executive produced by Maverick TV’s Sarah Eglin; series editor is Debb Swindells. The series will air in April.
