Channel 4 and Cancer Research present Stand Up To Cancer 2014

Category: News Release

Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) returns to our screens this October urging the nation to join forces with famous faces from TV, music and film in order to raise more money to accelerate new cancer treatments to UK patients and show cancer – it’s payback time.

The first UK event in 2012 became the most successful charity fundraiser on UK commercial TV, reaching an audience of 7.8m and raising a staggering £8m - funding 12 clinical trials across the UK.

Returning to host are Davina McCall, Alan Carr and Dr Christian Jessen. The trio will front a star studded night of television, jam packed with programming from entertainment and science to documentaries - featuring some of Channel 4’s and the UK’s best loved talent and respected researchers.

To help launch the campaign, One Direction are offering fans the chance to win an amazing once in a lifetime opportunity to fly to Miami to meet the band backstage at the final gig of their world tour – find out more here www.prizeo.com/onedirection

Funds from previous SU2C shows have already been allocated to world-leading translational research projects and clinical trials in the UK. But there is still much more to be done to help bring more effective treatments to patients sooner.

Want to join us in the fight against cancer this autumn? Then why not take part in some epic fundraising events across the country including; March On Cancer ™, a collective show of force against cancer at 15 simultaneous nationwide events in city centres across the UK and The London 3 Peaks challenge whereby adrenaline junkies scale and abseil three iconic London landmarks - the Gherkin, Salesforce Tower London (formerly Heron Tower) and 200 Aldersgate, culminating in a live TV fundraiser.
