Channel 4 announces Full English: The Game

Category: News Release

Channel 4 has commissioned fish in a bottle and Two Brothers Pictures to produce a standalone, web game to launch and extend the upcoming animated comedy Full English - on the surface it's an animated sitcom about a quintessentially English family; at its heart it's a satirical look at our popular culture, our monarchy, our economy, our country today.

The game, which will be rolled out episodically in four chapters, features approximately three hours of play time and marks an unprecedented collaboration between TV and digital creative. fish in a bottle collaborated with Two Brothers Pictures to create an original story, which introduces the characters and takes them on a new adventure.

The game starts in the quiet surroundings of the family household, with the player taking control of Edgar, the dad, as he solves puzzles to try and assemble the family for dinner. But a dramatic turn of events causes the family to be sucked into a game console, each landing in their own videogame pastiche. It's now up to you to work out how to get each character back to the real world.

The show's full voice cast assembled to record original dialogue for the game, including Richard Ayoade, Kayvan Novak, Daisy Haggard, Rosie Cavaliero and Lucy Montgomery

The first two chapters of the game will go live on the Channel 4 website  www.channel4.com/fullenglish ahead of the show's release

Channel4' s Multiplatform Commissioning Editor for Comedy & Entertainment, Jody Smith said:  "Full English is a bold addition to Channel 4's comedy schedule, so we wanted to do something equally ambitious online. The result is a beautiful adventure game, packed with gags and celeb cameos, and supported by the show's superb voice talent. The game's so big, we're thinking of it as an ‘episode zero'. It's been a perfect collaboration between the two studios - the likes of which is rarely seen"

Harry and Jack Williams of Two Brothers Pictures said 'We're delighted Channel 4 are getting so behind Full English and fish in a bottle have done a great job capturing the voice and comedy of our show"

The Full English game features original artwork, cut-scenes, characters and script produced in-house by fish in a bottle. Building on their previous experience fish in a bottle have blended gameplay, cut scenes and high quality reproductions of the show's art style to produce an extension of the show that introduces viewers to the world of Full English in an engaging way.

Robert Sloan, Senior Producer at fish in a bottle, said of working on the project: "It's been an absolute privilege to have been entrusted with this brand new show from Channel 4 and to be able to write a bespoke story for the game. The unique close collaborative relationship between fish in a bottle and Two Brothers Pictures has meant that we have been able to create a comedic game which matches the style and tone of the show, something which is crucial given that the game launches before the show and so will be the audience's first introduction to the world of Full English."

TWO BROTHERS PICTURES

TWO BROTHERS PICTURES - a young production company whose slate includes animation, comedy and drama - as long as it's a great idea TWO BROTHERS PICTURES will make it.

TWO BROTHERS PICTURES was set up this summer (2012) by brothers JACK and HARRY WILLIAMS, to produce television projects that they are passionate about.

Already, TWO BROTHERS PICTURES have signed a two year first look domestic DVD deal, with 4DVD. This enabled the boutique TWO BROTHERS PICTURES to become a reality as an independent television production company; where the brothers could continue to write as well as produce projects from other writers, both young and established.

TWO BROTHERS PICTURES' first commission is Full English for Channel 4 - an animated sitcom about a quintessentially English family, but underneath it is a satirical look at British popular culture at its worst. The commission gave them control of their own show and made them responsible for a multi million pound budget. The six part satirical animation series has taken two years in the making and will be shown on Channel 4 in November 2012. JACK and HARRY have written the series, producing alongside the artist ALEX SCARFE who created the main characters and background designs. The hand-drawn animation is by ROUGH DRAFT STUDIOS (Futurama, The Simpson's Movie).

Over the last four years HARRY and JACK have worked consistently in the US on pilot scripts for all the major networks including: Twentieth Century Fox, Universal, ABC, Paramount and Warner Brothers - and it was there that they saw the strength of the role of the producer / writer combination, which lead them to set up TWO BROTHERS PICTURES in the UK.

Pre TWO BROTHERS PICTURES, HARRY and JACK flexed their UK comedy writing skills together with Amazing Dermot for Ash Atalla's Roughcut TV which aired as part of C4's Comedy Showcase Pilot season in 2008; on Charlie Brooker's Black Mirror and also on their own six part original comedy drama Roman's Empire for BBC2/Tiger Aspect. The series starred Chris O'Dowd, Matt Horne, Neil Dudgeon and Sarah Solemani.

A busy time for TWO BROTHERS PICTURES with various projects created and written by HARRY and JACK all close to being green lit. Series include a six part comedy series with actor Adam Deacon already attached; and their first drama, a ten part thriller, in association with Company Pictures. TWO BROTHERS PICTURES have also chosen to co-produce two comedy projects - one with Bwark Productions for Comedy Central and another with Roughcut TV. They also have several shows in development for both comedy and drama with other talented writers attached.
