Channel 4 announces two new Reef series for Daytime

Category: News Release

Channel 4 has commissioned two series for 2014 from Reef Television.

The French Collection (w/t) is a 15 x 60 daytime series where three amateur vintage dealers travel to brocante markets in France to acquire a host of varied items with the aim of returning to the UK to sell them for a profit.

Presented by wheeler dealer Mark Franks, the show will feature stunning French locations, eye-catching renovations and up-cycling, alongside great advice on buying and selling vintage homewares.

The contestants must make big profits on their own French collections in just three days -  one day to buy the items, one day to renovate them, and one day to sell them.

After buying the items in each episode, the contestants then compete against each other to sell their items for the most profit – the winner scoops the profits from all three.

The French Collection has been commissioned by Channel 4 Commissioning Editor, Daytime, David Sayer.

Following a successful first series for More4, Selling Houses has been re-commissioned for a second series.

Also commissioned by David Sayer for Channel 4, the 20 x 1 hour property show fronted by Amanda Lamb, sets out to give house-sellers an opportunity to check out their local competition by viewing other houses in the neighbourhood that are also up for sale.

In each episode, Amanda will work with three homeowners who are desperate to sell.  She will offer advice about what changes they need to make to ensure that they stand out from the competition. The sellers have £1000 and one week to improve their homes, having learnt valuable lessons from their rival properties. Once the makeovers are complete, one prospective buyer must decide which home they prefer.

Richard Farmbrough, Managing Director of Reef Television said: “We’re delighted to be working with Channel 4 on a second series of the hugely successful series, Selling Houses, snooping around the houses in a newly invigorated property market. French Collection is a really fresh take on a territory loved by the viewers – it’s going to be a glossy, fast-paced and sun-drenched competition around collectible markets on both sides of the Channel!”

David Sayer from Channel 4 commented: “Amanda’s property expertise will bring a fresh approach to the second series of Selling Houses. And with all of us on the lookout for a bargain these days, it’s great to have Mark bring his eye for a deal to bear on French Collection.”

French Collection and Selling Houses will be executive produced by Alex Dundas, Reef’s Head of Popular Factual.
