Channel 4 appoints Acquired Series Manager

Channel 4 today announces that Nick Lee has been appointed to the broadcaster’s Programme Acquisition department in the newly created position of Acquired Series Manager.

 

Nick’s appointment follows the department’s move to report through Director of Commercial Affairs Martin Baker, which was announced in May.

 

In this new role, together with the Channel Management and VOD teams, Nick will be responsible for the creation and roll out of the strategy for Acquired Series across Channel 4’s portfolio and 4oD. He will work alongside Tim Highsted, Channel 4’s Senior Editor, Film with both reporting to Martin Baker.

 

Nick joins Channel 4 from NBC Universal where he was Acquisitions Manager for TV Series, Feature Documentaries and Special Interest from April 2012. Whilst there, he was responsible for researching, assessing and acquiring content as well as managing deals from negotiation to contract and delivery.

 

Prior to this Nick progressed from Account Executive at ITV, a position he held for two years before spending the following four years as Commercial Manager for Home Entertainment and Multiplatform at the BBC.

 

The Programme Acquisition department’s move has brought together responsibility for Channel 4’s strategy for deal making in acquired programme and film together with commissioned content and Film 4 production – whilst editorial decisions on acquisitions continue to be made by Chief Creative Officer, Jay Hunt and the Channel Management team.

Programme Acquisition is responsible for all sourcing, viewing, acquiring, contracting and right management of Acquired Feature Films and Acquired Series across the Channel 4 Portfolio (C4, E4, More4 and Film 4) and 4oD. Recent Acquired Series have included Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Masters of Sex, Homeland, The Big Bang Theory, New Girl, Nashville and Revenge.

 

The department’s move has more closely aligned the contractual and financial responsibilities of the acquisitions team with the wider team which supports commissioning, under a new integrated management structure for Business Affairs and Production Finance.
