Channel 4 appoints Orpheus Warr as new Chief Technology Officer

Channel 4 today announced it has promoted Orpheus Warr to the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

In his new role, Orpheus will be responsible for Channel 4’s overall technical strategy, architecture and R&D activity. Orpheus will also continue to be responsible for the technical aspects of Channel 4’s Broadcast Management, Distribution and Operations.

Orpheus will report to Keith Underwood, Director of Strategy & Technology. Also reporting to Keith are Kevin Gallagher (Chief Information Officer), Rachel Yendoll (Head of Content Management) and the Corporate Strategy function of Channel 4.

Orpheus was previously Channel 4’s Chief Architect and Head of Technical Strategy.

Having joined Channel 4 in 2003, Orpheus has played a central role in developing a number of technology ‘firsts’ for the channel. These have included the game-changing launch of 4oD, Channel 4’s innovative use of cloud-based platforms, and the technical enablement of Channel 4’s Data Strategy through the design of ‘Big Data’ solutions that are now being used to underpin Viewer Relationship Management and advanced Digital Sales propositions.
