Channel 4 boosts Daytime commissioning team

David Sayer in his hippy years. Not really, it's Helen Warner, Head of Daytime


David Sayer, currently executive producer for hit cult show Come Dine with Me, is joining Channel 4 as Daytime Commissioning and Development Editor.

David has a string of programme successes under his belt and has worked across a huge range of shows. He has been Executive Producer of ratings winner Come Dine with Me for the past six years, and the series won two RTS Programme Awards during that time, as well as being nominated for a BAFTA. 

As an executive producer and producer, David has worked on shows as varied as Cops with Cameras, Dancing on Ice: Defrosted, Diana, Witness in the Tunnel: The Debate and Hell's Kitchen, and was series editor of Jonathan Dimbleby from 2000-2004.

He will report into Head of Daytime Helen Warner and will oversee the development of new formats as well as taking on responsibility for programmes including Come Dine with Me and Coach Trip.

Helen said: "David is one of the most talented and creative people working in TV and the success of Come Dine with Me in particular is a credit to his abilities.  His impressive track record spans politics, factual, entertainment, formats and games shows, all with considerable success and I am thrilled he's agreed to join us at Channel 4. "  

David said: "I'm delighted to be working for Helen - she's a brilliant commissioner and Channel 4 has a fantastic slate of Daytime shows. It's an exciting time to be joining the Channel and I'm really looking forward to helping develop new ideas for the department."
