Channel 4 commissions Seven Year Switch UK

Category: News Release

Channel 4 today announced the UK commission of international hit series Seven Year Switch (6x60’) produced by 7 Wonder.

Seven Year Switch is an ambitious relationship format, which follows the journey of couples who have hit a major crossroads in their relationships.

Throughout the series, audiences will watch each couple embark on a ground-breaking therapeutic approach, where they part ways to live with a complete stranger who has also hit a crisis point in their relationship.

With experts on hand to guide them, the new pairs will work to fix each other’s relationships. A successful outcome will ultimately depend on the kind of relationship these strangers build as they face the cold hard realities of their own marriages back home. Will it be enough to save their real relationships? Or the moment they finally call time on a future together.

Dom Bird said of the commission:  We are thrilled to have secured this hugely successful format for UK audiences. Seven Year Switch promises to offer a truly thought-provoking insight into modern relationships.

Duncan Coates, Creative Director at 7 Wonder said of the commission: “By shining a light on the mysterious world of other people’s relationships Seven Year Switch brilliantly illuminates the truth of our own. Audacious, entertaining and thought-provoking, it’s just the kind of idea that is at the heart of what 7 Wonder is all about.”

Said Ellen Lovejoy, Vice President, International Content Sales, A+E Networks: Seven Year Switch is resonating with viewers across the globe and we are delighted the UK will have the chance to watch this provocative approach to relationship therapy through the Channel 4 lens. The approach to conflict resolution that is at the heart of this series will resonate with male and female viewers alike.

UK viewers can already find Australian and US versions of the hit series available on-demand via All 4.

The new series is commissioned by Channel 4’s Head of Formats, Dom Bird and Formats Commissioning Editor, Jilly Pearce. The series will be produced by 7 Wonder with Duncan Coates as Executive Producer and Sam Simon as Series Producer. Seven Year Switch is based on a format from A+E Networks.
