Channel 4 confirms TFI Friday series

Category: News Release

Following the triumphant return of TFI Friday earlier this month, Channel 4 has confirmed its option to take the Chris Evans hosted extravaganza to series.

The eight part run will begin in the autumn.

TFI Friday returned to screens for a 90 minute special on Friday 12th June and drew a peak audience of 4.2m comfortably beating all its terrestrial competitors.

The show also attracted the highest share of viewers aged 16-34 with an impressive 30% share of the demographic for the slot.

In addition, with over 90,000 tweets – an average of 519 tweets-per-minute – TFI Friday was also the most talked about programme of the week.

Chris Evans commented, “Oh my goodness, are we really going to get to do this again? Looks like it - and leading into Christmas too. I might actually spontaneously explode on live television due to over excited-ness.‎ Does that still count as unpredictable cos I've said it now?”

Jay Hunt, Channel 4’s Creative Officer said; “Chris is the best of the best of live broadcasters and I never doubted for a moment that this TFI would live up to expectations. Confirming a series was a no brainer”.

With top celebrity guests, leading music acts and a variety of colourful segments, TFI Friday is set to once again be a key part of the Friday night schedule. .

TFI Friday was commissioned by Channel 4’s Commissioning Editor for Live & Events, Tom Beck. The Executive Producers are Will Macdonald, Clare Barton and Suzi Aplin.
