Category: News Release

From weight loss products and diet fads to surgery and the latest beauty treatments or fashion fix we are nation obsessed with our appearances and what we can do to better them. Channel 4 Features has commissioned four brand new programmes which are set to delve into the fixation with our bodies, transforming a few along the way.

Across the UK there are people who’ve never seen a doctor, a dentist or a surgeon, but who desperately need to. In ‘Never Seen a Doctor, Never Seen a Dentist’, a 3x60’ series from Little Gem, Katie Piper will be lifting the lid on those who’ve spent years neglecting themselves, be it through fear or financial worries and following their journey as they undertake dramatic transformations. From curing chronic acne to turning extreme dental disasters  into a perfect smile Katie will be finding out what damage that we can do to our bodies by shying away from medical maintenance and what can be done to help.

Made Over By (W/T), a 4x60’ series from Shine TV, will follow one woman who has lost her way in the wardrobe stakes as she meets with three different fabulous fashion tribes who are competing to give her attire and confidence a much needed injection of attitude. From Blinging Brixtonites and Tantastic Essex girls to happening hipsters, one lady who would never normally venture from jeans and a t-shirt will get to experiment with three very different looks. After going through three dramatic transformations she’ll be let loose to use everything she’s learnt from her new gurus to restyle herself, revealing her new ‘Made Over’ self to the three tribes to show which one of them has influenced her the most.

In Britain today a massive 11 million of us – almost 1 in 6 – are on some form of diet, many in a bid to slim down for a particular event that falls within our own glaring self-imposed deadlines.  In How To Lose Weight Well, produced by Little Gem, Dr Xand Van Tulleken and dietician Hala El-Shafie will be on hand as six dieters attempt diets which claim to be able to blitz the bulge. They will be embarking on diets across three different imposed time scales – 7 to 10 days, 6 weeks, and 4 months in a bid to reflect what slimmers across the nation attempt to do every day. Do the diet claims work and are they achievable? Are the cons worth the pros? And what are the innocent-looking food bombs which will blow up your diet?

Henry Holland and RDF Television are rigging the fitting rooms of some of the nation’s favourite shops in ‘The Changing Room’ (4x60’) in a bid to undress all of the drama, secrets, bitingly honest opinions and clandestine goings-on, teaching us the fashion rules we need to obey along the way. Cameras will be set up in high street stores including House of Fraser, New Look, H&M, Monsoon and River Island to catch all the tears, tantrums and triumphs that every shopping trip entails while Henry shares his top tips on what to buy, meeting an entertaining mix of customers and shop assistants who are keen to offer their opinion too.
