Channel 4 First Cut Pitch returns to Sheffield Doc/Fest

Category: News Release

Following the success of last year, The Channel 4 First Cut Pitch is back to give five new directors the chance to pitch at Sheffield Doc/Fest. The winner will walk away with a 1 x 60’ First Cut commission for Channel 4 - as well as invaluable industry development, mentorship and training. Applications are now open at http://sheffdocfest.com/view/channel4pitch

The five entrants judged the best must then prove their ability to tell a factual story by producing a three minute film which answers a set brief, to be shown at the festival itself between 7-12th June.

Each director will introduce, screen and discuss their works in front of the audience and a panel of judges including executive producers, established directors and David Brindley, Commissioning Editor for First Cut at Channel 4.

David comments ‘The First Cut Pitches at Sheffield Doc/Fest have always produced lively and entertaining panels and I’m excited to discover more exciting fresh directorial talent at this year’s event.’
