Channel 4 goes in search of miracles

Category: News Release

A new Channel 4 series will take viewers on a global journey to meet real life superhumans from the backstreets of Bucharest to the jungles of Bali, to witness ordinary people demonstrating the most spectacular extraordinary powers. Are there people out there who can do things science simply can’t explain?

Simon Farnaby, who most recently fronted Channel 4’s hit documentary The King Under the Car Park, will turn miracle hunter and fulfil his childhood dream of coming face to face with a superhero. He has long been fascinated with superhuman abilities and in this three part series, Simon seeks out the men, women and children who believe they actually possess special powers.

Over the series, Simon will witness inexplicable superhuman abilities – death defying acts which confound physics and push the human body beyond the realms of possibility. Will he discover that we all have a bit of the superhuman in us?

Miracle Hunter (w/t) will feature magnetic boys in Croatia and Serbia’s million volt “Human battery”. Will Simon be able to stand up to the invisible strength of the Indonesian psychic martial artists? And after trekking to a Chinese monastery, will Simon discover that the Unbreakable Monk truly can take a drill to his own head and possesses the secret of power over pain?

The series was commissioned by Head of Factual Entertainment, Liam Humphreys, and Commissioning Editor, Tina Flintoff. Made by Twenty Twenty (part of the Shed Media group), it will be executive produced by Meredith Chambers and series produced by Pamela Gordon. It will air on Channel 4 in the autumn.

Tina Flintoff said: “Simon is a unique talent and has a genuine passion for this subject – I’m really looking forward to seeing how he engages with some of the world’s most extraordinary people.”
