Channel 4 launches contest to find the UK's most talented Lego builder

Eight pairs of amateur fans will compete against each other building ambitious brick creations in new competition series, Masters of LEGO (w/t)

Channel 4 has commissioned the all-new competition format series challenging some of Britain’s biggest LEGO fans to build incredible creations with the famous bricks.

Eight competing pairs will have their design, originality and construction skills put to the test in a battle to be crowned Britain's most talented amateur LEGO builders. From recreating magnificent landmarks in miniature scale, to full-sized working vehicles, each challenge will showcase creative, imaginative and technical abilities and be judged by experts from the world’s biggest toy-maker.

The teams will comprise of pairs of all ages. In each programme, the teams who impress the judges most will progress to the next round until the finale, where just one pair will be crowned winners.

Dom Bird, Head of Formats comments: “There a very few of us who haven’t engaged with LEGO bricks at some point in our lives, be it the youngest of children or the space scientists at NASA. This contest is the first of its kind on UK television and will recognise some of Britain’s best and brightest amateur Lego builders, both young and old. We’re excited to bring the most colourful competition on TV to a family audience”.

Steph Harris, Executive Producer adds: “This playful new format demonstrates that LEGO bricks are more than just a toy – or something to step on – and will appeal to the child in all of us, showcasing spectacular builds and inspire the next generation of artists, engineers, architects and builders”.

The 4 x 60’ series will be made by Tuesday’s Child East and has been commissioned for Channel 4 by Dom Bird, Head of Formats and Jilly Pearce, Formats Commissioning Editor.
