Channel 4 launches new call to prayer film from Bradford

Category: News Release

Each morning since the start of Ramadan Channel 4 has been broadcasting the morning call to prayer (Adhan) at around 3am.

From tomorrow (Tuesday 30 July) a new film, shot on the streets of Bradford, will be broadcast daily until the end of Ramadan.

It features the same muezzin Hassen Rasool who also sang in the London and Birmingham-based films.

Tonight (Monday 29 July) also sees the first Ramadan Diaries film to feature a solider, who is serving in the British army in Afghanistan, observing Ramadan. Sapper Abubakar Sidiq Sqalah, based in Camp Bastion, explains what it is like to work each day gathering mines in thirty-degree heat with no food or water, and how much support his senior officers and army colleagues give him.
