Channel 4’s Legal & Compliance team were named In-house TMT Team of the Year at last night’s prestigious The Lawyer Awards 2013, proving themselves market leaders in their field.
Impressively, this is the second time Channel 4 has taken home this highly coveted award
The Legal and Compliance team at Channel 4 plays a unique role for a legal team in a media organisation, advising across a range of media law and regulatory compliance as well as editorial ethical matters.
Channel 4’s remit means that programmes demonstrate ‘innovation, experimentation and creativity’ whilst ‘exhibiting a distinctive character’ and so the team are presented with daily challenges which seek to push editorial and creative boundaries.
The Lawyer Awards judges included Brick Court Chambers’ Tim Lord QC and One Essex Court’s Daniel Toledano QC, as well as in-housers Lesley Wan from Lloyds Banking Group, easyJet general counsel Andrew Winterton, Telefonica UK’s general counsel Ed Smith, Charlotte Heiss of RSA and Gordon Brough from Aberdeen Asset Management.
