Channel 4 makes a date with Five Guys a Week
Category: News Release
Channel 4 has commissioned a brand new dating show pilot from Label1.
Five Guys a Week transforms the first-date experience into the ultimate test of romance, compatibility and stamina by providing one single girl with five trial live-in boyfriends for a week – all at the same time.
The locally-sourced lads, all meeting her exacting standards, will jostle for supremacy as they compete for the girl’s admiration from the moment they set foot across her threshold. They will go everywhere with her en masse: whether that’s to her job, out with her mates, or for dinner with her parents, with a combination of fixed rig and roaming cameras following all the action. There is only one rule - the girl must eliminate four of the guys by the end of the week, whittling them down to the last man standing.
Will he turn out to be her perfect match?
Commissioning Editor Gilly Greenslade comments, “It’s not uncommon to have multiple online flirtations on the go at any one time thanks to modern dating apps. This format brings that concept into the real world. It’s wit and warmth make it an irresistible proposition.”
Label1 Head of Factual Entertainment Barnaby Coughlin adds, “The best formats are often the simplest. Five Guys a Week is as simple as they come. It fast-tracks the ‘getting to know you’ phase of a relationship and gives the central character a unique opportunity to compare and contrast all her suitors – in real time, through a series of intense and involving encounters”.
Five Guys a Week will be the first Label1 show to be executive produced by Coughlin who joined Label1 from Twenty Twenty where he executive produced First Dates and First Dates Hotel.
Casting and pre-production has started on the 1x60 pilot for Channel 4. The programme has been commissioned by Gilly Greenslade, Factual Entertainment Commissioning Editor.
The executive producers for Label1 are Barnaby Coughlin, Simon Dickson and Lorraine Charker-Philips.
