Channel 4 News online introduces responsive technology

Channel 4 News has announced that it will become the first UK news programme to use responsive design. The site will automatically reorganise its content for optimum viewing on any platform, from mobile to tablet to a resized browser window. The redesign will also ensure www.channel4.com/news is looking ahead to future innovations in converged TV.  

Last month Google suggested "Sites that serve all devices on the same set of URLs, with each URL serving the same HTML to all devices and using just CSS to change how the page is rendered on the device" as its recommended configuration. Reasons for this include the fact that sites configured in this way are more easily indexed - and more likely to be linked to and shared. (Source ) Last month ITN announced that the site for its video content would use the technology, but in the UK, it is used more extensively in retail. No other news programme in the UK has responsive design.
