Channel 4 opens first job agency for OAPs
Category: News ReleaseChannel 4 Factual Entertainment will open the doors to Britain's first ever employment agency for the over 65s in a brand new series fronted by Mary Portas.
Brand expert and marketeer Mary Portas has spotted a business opportunity - the potential of a huge resource that she plans to tap into by creating a brand new business with Britain’s often overlooked and under-valued pensioners.
Many over 65s find themselves on the employment scrap heap simply because of their age. But that doesn’t mean they’ve lost the skills and experience to cut it in the modern world, and if they ran their own business, they could work as long or as little as they liked.
So Mary is going to help them do exactly that. She’s setting up an agency representing a grey army – who could be 65 or 105 – to compete against the rest of the world in anything from catering to building, childcare to beauty. Mary will cast the net wide to recruit an army of OAPs who may have been cast aside by society, but still have very much to offer.
Mary’s Jobs for Life (w/t) was commissioned by Head of Factual Entertainment, Liam Humphreys, and Commissioning Editor, Rich Evans. Made by Plum Pictures and executive produced by Will Daws, it will air on Channel 4 later this year.
Rich Evans said: “I can’t wait to see Mary bring the agency to life in her own, inimitable style. She passionately wants to give the older generation the opportunity to go on providing the services and skills sadly lacking in today’s marketplace.”
