Channel 4 reveal first look and announce the cast joining Nicola Coughlan and Lydia West on comedy series Big Mood (w/t)
Category: News ReleaseChannel 4 has shared a first-look image on rebellious new comedy series, Big Mood (w/t) produced by Fremantle’s Dancing Ledge Productions. The full cast list starring alongside Coughlan and West in the six-part series has also been announced.
Big Mood is set to explore the nuances of female friendship when threatened by the complexities of serious mental illness.
A series of chaotic events put Maggie (Nicola Coughlan) and Eddie’s (Lydia West) decade-long friendship to the test. With the pair at a pivotal point in their lives, and Maggie’s bipolar disorder making an unwelcome return, Eddie begins to question whether this friendship is really in their best interests.
Joining the series’ ensemble is Niamh Cusack (The Virtues), Eamon Farren (The Witcher), Luke Fetherston (Flowers in the Attic: The Origin), Kate Fleetwood (Wheel of Time), Rob Gilbert (Big Boys), Rebecca Lowman (Prime Suspect), Sally Phillips (Veep), Ukweli Roach (Wolf) and Amalia Vitale (Willow).
Other members of the cast include Olu Adaeze (Top Boy), Max Bennett (Poldark), Skylar Betteridge, David Bedella (Inside No. 9), Tim Downie (Toast of London), Ron Donachie, Sarah Durham (Sex Education), Lara Grace Ilori, Neil Edmond, Amy Gledhill (Alma’s Not Normal), content creator Maddie Grace Jepson, Tom Rhys Harries (White Lines), Layla-Belle Matthews, Simon Meacock (Outlander), David Mumeni (Stath Lets Flats), David Newman, Freya Parker (Lazy Susan), Shuna Snow, Sid Sagar, Stephen Sobal, Lottie Tolhurst, Isobel Thom, Robin Weaver (Extraordinary).
The show will also feature a special guest appearance from Joanna Page (Love Actually, Gavin and Stacey), who will be playing herself.
Big Mood is written by Camilla Whitehill. It is being directed by Rebecca Asher (Dead to Me, Brooklyn Nine Nine), executive produced by Lotte Beasley Mestriner (The Young Offenders) and produced by Georgie Fallon (The Following Events are Based on a Pack of Lies). Laurence Bowen (The Salisbury Poisonings, The Responder) and Chris Carey (Crossfire, Wedding Season) executive produce for Dancing Ledge Productions. The casting director is Lauren Evans (Sex Education). Fremantle will handle global distribution for the series. Big Mood was commissioned for Channel 4 by Commissioning Editor, Laura Riseam.
