Channel 4 Sales today announces the appointment of Simon Wells to Partnership Controller, Funded Content & Creative Solutions.

The newly created role was announced earlier this year as one of two new Partnership Controller positions in a realignment of the Partnership team to help further drive Channel 4’s record for innovation with partners and clients.

Simon will be responsible for driving Channel 4’s innovation agenda across advertiser funded programming, partnership activation and break innovation. He will report into Partnership Leader, Rob Ramsey and work alongside Partnership Controller, Sponsorship, Rupinder Downie.

Simon leaves his position as Head of IP and Entertainment formats at Drum OMG, one which he has held for the past nine years and has seen him responsible for major advertiser funded shows such as: What’s Cooking in the Sainsbury’s Kitchen for Channel 4; The Krypton Factor for ITV; The Angina Monologues for Sky (winner of a British Comedy Award) and The Big Tackle with Austin Healey for ITV.

Before joining OMG Simon worked across Commercial Development at etv Media Group for three years and for four years prior to this was Head of Advertiser Partnerships at Endemol.

Jonathan Lewis, Head of Digital and Partnership Innovation said: “Simon is a unique talent, who brings to C4 a wealth of commercial, creative and production experience.  He will be pivotal to help drive C4’s partnerships with advertisers to develop engaging & innovative content.”

Simon said: “I am thrilled to be joining the UK’s most exciting and innovative  broadcaster and am looking forward to working with the great team there to continue building on the ambitious and ground breaking creative and commercial partnerships they have been developing.”

Ends.
