Channel 4 to turn up the heat in the kitchen with Fabulous Baker Boys

Channel 4 will introduce viewers to a delicious world of flour, fire and forearms with brand new The Fabulous Baker Boys (w/t), made by Betty.
The series will star brothers Tom, who is a baker, and Henry, a chef who runs the local butcher's shop next door to his brother's bakery in the heart of Gloucestershire. With five generations of baking tradition behind them, Tom and Henry will take viewers into the heat of the artisan kitchen and unlock the trade secrets of baking which have been honed through generations of practice and passion.
And there won't be a cupcake in sight. Based around the oven, the series will be packed with hearty recipes and interesting twists on baking classics. In each episode, the boys will roll up their sleeves, get out the flour and take viewers through their delicious recipes. But it won't be just about bread and pastry: each dish will have hearty fillings, tempting toppings and unusual accompaniments that will bring in stacks of delicious flavours.
In addition, each episode will see Tom and Henry go head to head in The Pie-Off - with each of them coming up with their own version of a themed pie and serving them up to a group of hungry judges.
The 6x30 series was commissioned by Deputy Features Commissioning Editor Katie Horswell and is set to air in early 2012. It will be executive produced by Neil Smith and series produced by Emma Vulliamy.
Tom and Henry said: "We love to bake, we love to eat, we can't wait to share with you all the baking that we do. It's going to be messy, and boy it'll be worth it. Peace and loaf."
Katie Horswell said: "The thing that really excites me about this series is the new talent: the boys. Plus all the gorgeous food that men will want to cook and eat. With no pink spatula in sight, it's exactly what we knead."
Betty's Liz Warner said: "Cupcakes are so over. It's time for the fundamentals like bread. Tom and Henry are unique talent. Both of them have a refreshing integrity and we want to bring their artisanal skills and likeable personalities to the screen."
